1 shot, killed in Birmingham’s Collegeville neighborhood

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham police are on the scene of a fatal shooting in the 3000 Block of 32nd Avenue North on Friday.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald reports that calls came in of a person shot at the Collegeville Housing Authority just after noon. An adult male was found lying near a sidewalk at the scene, unresponsive and shot multiple times. While he was being transported to UAB Hospital, he died from his injuries.

Hueytown man found guilty of plotting to murder a federal prosecutor

The victim was later identified as Chuck Wallace, 33, of Birmingham. Police also described him as a private contractor for the housing authority.

According to Fitzgerald, investigators believe the victim was shot in a targeted attack. The Real-Time Crime Center is currently assisting BPD to track the suspect down.
