BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — In March, WDHN’s sister station, CBS 42, reported on a man trapped in a U-Haul truck under a concrete beam at the Courtland Vesta Apartment Complex in Birmingham.
That individual was 22-year-old L.J. Moore. The Tuscaloosa entrepreneur survived the terrible accident, and chooses to carry himself with a hope and an optimism that one very bad day couldn’t take from him.
“Just be the best man I can be in everything. Everything I come across, leave it better than I found it,” said Moore.
Moore approaches everyday as a gift, a life lesson given by his parents and an outlook grounded in his faith. That outlook was given the ultimate test on March 8. Moore’s moving company was helping a client from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham when he ran into a massive low-hanging beam that collapsed on his truck, pinning his leg and trapping him.
“Soon as I looked down, I knew this was trouble. But I couldn’t do anything. All I could do was sit there, and pray, and ask someone to please call 911,” Moore said.
