Alabama lawmaker proposes bill to get rid of cell phones in schools

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A lawmaker from Jefferson County is proposing a ban on cell phones in classrooms. State Rep. Patrick Sellers from Pleasant Grove has pre-filed a bill that would require the Alabama State Department of Education to implement this ban. The Birmingham Federation of Teachers supports this initiative, stating that it is long overdue and will help eliminate distractions that hinder students’ learning.
