2 arrested for alleged neglect/abuse of disabled adult in Shelby County

COLUMBIANA, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 62-year-old man last week for alleged neglect/abuse of a disabled adult after a 69-year-old woman was charged in the same case.

According to the SCSO, it received reports in September alleging a woman with an intellectual disability was being abused by another family member serving as a caregiver. The SCSO began investigating, and a court order was obtained to remove the victim from the home while it gathered evidence.

2 arrested in connection to shooting at Homewood apartment complex

On Dec. 10, Wilsonville resident Cora Morris was arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail for alleged neglect/abuse of a disabled adult . She was released on a $15,000 bond. As the investigation continued, Wilsonville resident James Moss was arrested on the same charges Dec. 12 and released the same day on $15,000 bond.
