Alabama nonprofit distributes Christmas boxes to provide holiday meal for families

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Alabama nonprofit Little Hands Serving Hearts is hosting its annual Christmas Blessings box distribution Saturday to brighten the holidays for families in need. The nonprofit is dedicated to young people making a difference through several volunteer opportunities.

Ashley Seligson is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit. She said Little Hands Serving Hearts has been around for seven years now.

“Little Hands Serving Hearts is dedicated to providing volunteer opportunities for children with no minimum age to volunteer,” Seligson said. “We do events like Christmas Blessings, feeding the homeless and Operation Fill a Backpack. There are lots of different ways that the youngest members of our community can get involved and give back in a big way.”

Seligson said distribution is going to be 25% bigger than last year. The nonprofit will support 125 families with a box filled with Christmas groceries including ham, green beans, stuffing, dessert and anything to make that holiday meal.
