BESSEMER, Ala. ( WIAT ) — An inmate at the William Donaldson Correction Facility died Tuesday after a reported assault in the prison.
Cordel Ladon Battle, 30, was pronounced dead at 7:28 p.m. Tuesday after suffering “sharp force trauma” during an alleged assault, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reports. “Sharp force trauma” is typically characterized by injuries where the body tissue is damaged by a sharp object, although the JCCO did not go into detail about what kind of injuries Battle sustained.
