Birmingham, Alabama – A slow-moving storm system could dump more than 5 inches of rain across parts of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee through Saturday, raising the risk of flash flooding and travel disruptions.
According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, a series of wet, slow-moving systems will push across the southern U.S. through May 11. The heaviest rainfall is expected from central Mississippi through northern Alabama and Georgia, where saturated soils and runoff may lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas.
