Jefferson County School System appoints new principal at Pinson Valley High School

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBMA) — The Jefferson County School System has announced the appointment of Gerolyn Woodruff as the new principal of Pinson Valley High School. Woodruff, a seasoned educator within the system, will replace Michael Turner, who became the Bessemer City Schools Superintendent in April.

Woodruff’s experience includes roles as a teacher at Erwin Middle School and assistant principal positions at Shades Valley High School, Rudd Middle School, and Pinson Valley High School. Most recently, she was appointed principal of Rudd Middle School for the 2024-2025 academic year.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Woodruff is an alumna of Alabama A&M University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Political Science Secondary Education.
