Birmingham woman hit with $3,000 bill to retrieve stolen car gets resolution after weeks of confusion

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – When Keneathea Dunning reported her car stolen in April, she never imagined that a month later, she’d be staring down a $3,000 towing bill just to get it back.

But that’s exactly what happened.

On April 26, Dunning returned to her Birmingham apartment after work. Shortly after, her black 2012 Hyundai Elantra was gone. She reported the theft to Birmingham Police, who she says assured her the car would be flagged in the stolen vehicle database…
