Birmingham man charged in connection to 2024 fatal hit-and-run

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Birmingham man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to a hit-and-run in October 2024 that killed a 13-year-old boy.

According to a court document filed Wednesday, Antonio Weldon Jr., 24, is charged with reckless manslaughter.

He’s being held in jail under $30,000 bond. Weldon was allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol when he struck Braylen Hardy around 6:50 p.m. October 26, 2024.
