Shelby County inmates charged in jail drug smuggling plot

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — Investigators with the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force have uncovered a plot to smuggle illegal narcotics into the Shelby County Jail. Over the past several months, investigators, with the help of jail deputies and staff, discovered that two current inmates, Susan Barton and Shunta Clemons, were coordinating with an outside suspect, Darlene Woods, to send books and packages containing hidden narcotics into the jail.
