ALDOT announcing ramp closures starting August 10

According to ALDOT, they and their contracted partner, Alabama Guardrail, Inc. will conduct guardrail repairs starting at 9 p.m. The repairs will be happening until 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11.

The repairs will impact:

  • Interstate-65 Southbound Exit 259A to 6th Avenue South
  • I-65 Northbound Exit 259 to University Blvd
  • I-65 SB Exit 259B to 4th Avenue South
  • I-65 SB Exit 256A to Oxmoor Road
  • I-65 SB Exit 252 to US 31

ALDOT says that one lane of these ramps will remain open while repairs are ongoing, however they encourage drivers to remember the “Alabama Move Over Act,” which states drivers should move over from the lane closest to law enforcement or service vehicles with flashing lights. If it is not safe to move over, drivers should slow to at least 15 mph less than the posted speed limit…
