Alabama’s Pastor Mike Jr. sets record with Stellar Awards sweep

Birmingham’s Pastor Mike Jr. cleaned up Saturday evening at the Stellar Awards, with a sweep that included a record-setting fourth win for artist of the year.

The Rev. Mike McClure Jr., founder of Rock City Church, had already won 19 Stellar Awards when he was nominated in nine categories this time around. He won in all nine.

Music industry news site Billboard.com reported that McClure won five awards including Album of the Year for his EP “I Got Away,” and four awards including Song of the Year for his single “Amen.” “There are just 30 categories at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards, so Pastor Mike Jr. won nearly one-third of the awards presented on the night,” said the Billboard report…
