Birmingham police make 69 arrests in crime reduction efforts

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department’s Special Enforcement Division made 69 arrests during the week of August 11 to August 17, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce crime and enhance public safety in the city.

The arrests included 45 felony charges and 24 misdemeanors. Officers also seized 20 firearms, including two stolen guns, one with an altered auto sear, a machine gun conversion device, and a suppressor.

In addition to the arrests, the division conducted 123 traffic stops, issued 286 citations—74 of which were for speeding—and impounded eight vehicles. No stolen vehicles were recovered during this period…
