JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Lipscomb police announced the arrest of a man in connection to the shooting that left a pregnant woman dead Thursday.
Alfred Colvin III, 32, of Bessemer, is charged with murder and is being held in Lipscomb City Jail as he awaits extradition to Jefferson County. He has no bond.

According to Lipscomb Police Chief Jatavius Merritt, the shooting took place at 7th Avenue and 5th Street. Officers were called to the scene at around 9:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a pregnant woman, identified as Angelicca Newtown, 29, in a truck suffering from gunshot wounds. Police say she was pronounced dead at the scene.
