BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham City Council approved an agreement between the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority and the city of Birmingham as requested in the city’s budget.
The BJCTA will continue to provide public transportation services for $14 million. Charlotte Shaw, the Executive Director & CEO of Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority says the amount of funding they’ll be getting from the city is broken down into $11 million for fixed route and paratransit services, and $3 million for their Bus Rapid Transit services, known as BRT.
