Alabama Attorney General’s Office takes over investigation after person shot, killed by Homewood police officer

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Attorney General’s Office is conducting an investigation after an individual was shot and killed by a Homewood police officer Friday.

The shooting occurred on Greensprings Highway near Valley Avenue.

According to the Homewood Police Department, officers observed a male subject on a bicycle obstructing traffic. Officers made contact with the subject. Homewood police say the individual stated he did not want to identify himself because he had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest, and he had been to prison for robbery…
