Birmingham gas prices drop slightly, remain higher than last month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Average gasoline prices in Birmingham have decreased by 2.8 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $2.76 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 550 stations in the area. Despite this recent decline, prices in Birmingham are still 5.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 3.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

GasBuddy price reports indicate that the cheapest station in Birmingham was priced at $2.54 per gallon yesterday, while the most expensive was $3.15 per gallon, marking a 61-cent difference. Across the state, the lowest price recorded yesterday was $2.37 per gallon, with the highest at $3.58 per gallon, a difference of $1.21 per gallon.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline has risen by 2.2 cents per gallon in the last week, reaching $3.14 per gallon. This national average remains unchanged from a month ago and is 1.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, based on GasBuddy data compiled from over 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 gas stations across the country…
