FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Fairfield City Schools has made significant strides in its educational performance, climbing from an F rating to a C+, according to Superintendent Dr. Regina Thompson.
“When I first came on board, Fairfield City Schools was at an F rating. Today, we’ve climbed to a C+, and we are just one point away from earning a B,” said Dr. Thompson. She attributed this progress to “intentional work, strategic partnerships, and belief in our students’ potential.”
A key component of this improvement is the district’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs, which enroll children as young as six weeks old through age four. Dr. Thompson said, “The idea is simple but powerful. If you give children access to learning early they won’t start behind.” She noted that students who participate in these programs enter kindergarten “more confident, more prepared, and ready to thrive.”…
