Starbucks announced this week it was closing up to 1% of its locations as part of its “Back to Starbucks” revamp.
“Our goal is for every coffeehouse to deliver a warm and welcoming space with a great atmosphere and a seat for every occasion,” CEO Brian Niccol wrote in a blog post. “During the review, we identified coffeehouses where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed.”
Starbucks currently has about 18,300 locations in North America, putting the number of store closings at around 180. That number coincides with an unofficial list published by USA Today that shows about 200 stores set for closure. You can access the list here…
