Center Point plans more technology, deputies to curb crime

CENTER POINT, Ala. (WBRC) – City leaders in Center Point say they plan to expand crime-fighting technology and increase law enforcement presence in an effort to keep residents safe.

Mayor Bobby Scott said the city will continue its partnership with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Metro Area Crime Center to curb violence before it happens.

“We work with the county as far as our license plate readers, our Flock cameras,” Scott said. “That’s in conjunction with the county to watch those cameras as well, so anytime something happens, they literally have the license plates. If they are looking for a particular vehicle, those are all logged by those cameras in Center Point.”…
