Arrest made in Homewood electric bicycle theft case

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A man was arrested after allegedly stealing an electric bicycle in Homewood on Saturday.

According to the Homewood Police Department, it received a call about the bicycle being stolen in the 1000 block of Broadway Street. An officers talked with the victim and watched surveillance footage from a condo garage.

2 men shot at Hoover apartment complex

The same officer saw a person matching the bike theft suspect description walking in the 10 block of Green Springs Highway later Saturday afternoon. The person had the clothing and backpack that was shown on the footage of the theft, according to police.

The suspect, 28-year-old Jacob King Wheelock was detained. Police stated he was found to be in possession of a lock pick set, crowbar, bolt cutters and drug paraphernalia. Wheelock was a transient, according to police. Officers continued their investigation, found the stolen bicycle and gave it to the owner…
