Bessemer man pleads guilty in teen cousin’s 2021 accidental shooting in Hoover

A 23-year-old Bessemer man has pleaded guilty in the 2021 reckless shooting death of his cousin in Hoover.

Kendall Patrick Langham, who was 18 at the time of the fatal shooting, was initially charged with capital murder in the death of 19-year-old Michael Shelley Jr. of Hoover.

The initial charge, which was a capital crime because the shooting happened inside a vehicle, was dismissed the following year and Langham was then indicted in the Jefferson County Bessemer Cutoff on a manslaughter charge…
