Birmingham expands juvenile re-entry program to include ages 11-15

Birmingham considers its juvenile re-entry program a success, so this week it expanded the program down to a lower age level, for ages 11 to 15.

RESTORE, a program run through the Jefferson County Family Resource Center, currently offers services and support to youth ages 16 to 19 who have been placed in state custody for a minimum of 30 days.

The Birmingham City Council, which approved funding in 2023, voted Tuesday to amend the agreement, funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant, to also be available for a younger age group…
