BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — When someone calls 911, every second matters. In a push to modernize emergency response and improve officer safety, the Birmingham Police Department is testing the use of autonomous drones to respond to calls — potentially arriving on the scene before officers do.
The City Council has approved two resolutions allowing the city to move forward with drone-related agreements — one with Birdstop, Inc. and another with Skyfire AI, Inc. Together, the pilot projects represent a growing investment in cutting-edge law enforcement tools.
