Shelby County man indicted on several charges including possession of bioweapon

HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – A Shelby County grand jury has indicted a man on multiple charges from June 2025.

Jerry Lee Clarke was charged after deputies found what they called explosives and multiple suspicious devices at a home on South Shades Crest Road.

Investigators say the devices were located June 18 during a court-ordered mental health pickup and search warrant at the home. The Army was called in to remove the devices, and everything that was found has been safely removed.

Court documents show Clarke is accused of possessing, transporting, or trying to get a destructive device, explosive, or biological weapon with the intention to harm people or destroy public buildings…
