Birmingham airport remains stable amid ongoing government shutdown

As the number of air traffic controllers calling out of work continues to rise due to the ongoing partial government shutdown, ABC 33/40 is working to learn how this will impact operations at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.

Kim Hunt with the Birmingham Airport Authority tells ABC 33/40, “This is clearly a difficult time for federal workers who are working without pay through the shutdown. At BHM, I am not aware of any operational impacts due to the shutdown. The airport works closely with our federal partners to maintain a safe and secure environment for travelers. We are thankful for their dedication every day.”
