Birmingham’s first skate shop has a new home! Skateboarding and clothing retailer Faith Skate Supply recently announced plans to move to a new location in the Avondale Mills Shopping Center, sandwiched between Birmingham Tattoo Company and Sparrow Salon.
Birmingham’s first skate shop is moving to Avondale
Founded in 1995 by Peter Karvonen, Faith Skate Supply is Birmingham’s first—and only—retail shop stocking all the supplies and accessories skaters need, regardless of skill level. Inside the store, you’ll find:
- Complete, ready-to-ride skateboards
- Skate decks, trucks, wheels, hardware and other accessories
- Skate-forward footwear from brands like Converse and
Over its 30-year history, Faith Skate has bounced around all over town—first in Southside, Five Points South and Central City before landing in the Tillman-Levenson building at 1201 2nd Avenue North.
Now, Faith Skate is moving across town to the Avondale Mills Shopping Center. Faith Skate announced the news on social media, stating the new location would be “larger, safer, cleaner, all around better.”
Fun fact: Faith Skate opened a second location in the Village Center shopping center in 2023.
