Alabama Department of Corrections Narcotics Agents executed two major operations on Oct. 29, 2025, resulting in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal substances.
The first operation took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. at 1661 Patton Chapel Rd., Apt. A, in Hoover, where agents executed an arrest warrant and a residential search warrant at the home of Crystal Smith. The search uncovered approximately 4 pounds of Flakka, 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a Flakka manufacturing lab, 200 grams of marijuana, and other contraband-related items. Smith was subsequently transported to the Jefferson County (Bessemer) Jail. She faces charges of Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, three counts of Drug Trafficking, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree.
Later that day, at around 8 p.m., agents executed another arrest warrant at 3709 Hickory Dr., in Birmingham, targeting Lachelle Nix. Following a post-Miranda interview, a search of Nix’s residence led to the discovery of approximately 4 pounds of Flakka, 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, and 344 grams of marijuana.
