The family of the late Carrie Griffin has filed a civil lawsuit in Jefferson County Circuit Court against Zion Memorial Gardens, LLC and its owner, Beverly McMillian, alleging gross negligence, fraud, and desecration of a gravesite. The lawsuit, filed by The Rice Firm, LLC, accuses the defendants of violating state law and betraying the trust of grieving families by mismanaging burial plots and failing to maintain proper cemetery records.
The complaint reveals that the Griffin family discovered the burial site for Mrs. Griffin, intended to be next to her late husband, Navy veteran Jimmie Griffin, Sr., was unmarked and missing a double headstone. Their investigation uncovered evidence of recordkeeping failures and potential resale of prepaid burial plots, prompting the legal action.
