Halloween Southside fire leaves 19 people displaced, Red Cross responds

Nineteen people have been displaced as a result of the Oct. 31 Southside fire in Birmingham, according to the American Red Cross.

The fire started around 4 a.m. in the area of the 1300 block of 20th Street South, near Cobb Lane.

Some of the displaced residents “didn’t have shoes on their feet, and they were standing out in the cold. Many were in shock,” Annette Rowland, regional director of communications of the American Red Cross of Alabama and Mississippi, told AL.com…
