FAIRFIELD, Ala. (WIAT) — An investigation is underway after a man was shot in Fairfield early Saturday morning.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Shell gas station in the 3600 block of Avenue E at around 4:10 a.m. on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, deputies found a 36-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Fairfield Fire and Rescue transported the victim to UAB Hospital for treatment.
