Mayor Randall L. Woodfin has unveiled a dynamic team of leaders poised to drive Birmingham’s progress in neighborhood revitalization, public safety, economic opportunity, and education. The announcement includes both reappointments and new roles within the mayor’s executive team, reflecting a blend of continuity and fresh perspectives.
Reappointed to the team are Cedric D. Sparks, Sr., as Chief of Staff; Ed Fields, as Chief Strategist and Senior Advisor; Melissa E. Smiley, as Chief Economic and Community Development Officer; and Chaz Mitchell, as Chief Financial Officer and Commissioner of Sports and Entertainment. Smiley and Mitchell have previously held significant roles within the administration, contributing to major city projects and initiatives.
