Birmingham fire crews battle house fire in cold

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham fire crews that responded to a house fire Monday evening in the 700 block of Eighth Terrace West reported the fire was put under control.

According to Cpt. Orlando Reynolds with Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, crews responded around 6:40 p.m. to a single-story home fire. The temperature was about 34 degrees when the fire broke out.

Three engine trucks and a ladder truck responded. Fire was visible in the attic area.

A man who said he moved into the house a little over eight weeks said he was not there when the fire started. He said he planned to get a room Monday night because the house, which he is renting, is unhabitable…
