Alabama’s Vietnam veterans were recognized in a special pinning ceremony Monday, led by Congressman Gary Palmer, as part of a national effort to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of those who often received little welcome when they returned home.
Dozens of veterans and their families packed into the Birmingham event—many carrying memories of war, hardship, and resilience they’ve held for more than half a century.
