The City of Birmingham, Alabama, and the United Way of Central Alabama have started a $1 million relief program for residents affected by recent SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) delays or suspensions. Mayor Randall L. Woodfin proposed the program, and the City Council approved it. Each eligible Birmingham SNAP account holder as of November 1, 2025, will receive a $100 gift card. The program is intended to help families facing food insecurity due to SNAP disruptions.
