Central Alabama Water (CAW) is set to upgrade parts of its infrastructure this weekend, taking advantage of the closure of U.S. Highway 280 for bridge construction. From Friday, Nov. 14 through Saturday, Nov. 15, a contractor for CAW will replace three 16-inch valves located along Highway 280 eastbound between Pump House Road and Dolly Ridge Road. This work will require significant excavation.
Mac Underwood, general manager of Central Alabama Water, emphasized the strategic timing of the project. “We want to be good neighbors and perform work when it will have the smallest impact on our customers and the public,” he said. “We’re replacing these valves while ALDOT has the road closed so we don’t have to close lanes at another time to perform this work. This is a commonsense approach to serving our customers and improving our water system.”…
