ICE says 18 workers detained after raid at Birmingham restaurant

More than a dozen employees of a Birmingham Thai and sushi restaurant were arrested on Nov. 14, according to immigration officials.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raided Nori Thai and Sushi during lunch and arrested 18 employees, according to Angelina Vicknair, ICE public affairs officer.

Vicknair said Nori wasn’t specifically targeted. Officers had a warrant for two people who worked there who had “overstayed their visas.” She said 16 more undocumented people “were encountered and arrested.”…
