Veterans receive Thanksgiving meals through ‘Turkeys for Heroes’ program

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Volunteers prepared and delivered 220 Thanksgiving meals Friday to veterans in need across central and northeast Alabama as part of the third annual ‘Turkeys for Heroes’ event hosted by Lettermen of the USA.

Some volunteers were veterans themselves, including Millard Carwyle, who served in World War II. Carwyle personally delivered a meal to a fellow veteran who was recently displaced by the fire at the Skyline Village retirement community in Homewood.
