More than 40,000 without power as storms roll through Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Strong storms moving across Alabama have knocked down trees and power lines across the state, leaving thousands without power service.

As of 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Alabama Power is reporting 47,074 customers are without power and the number continues to grow.

In Jefferson County alone, a staggering 32,975 customers are without power, while Blount, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa and Walker Counties have over 2,000 outages each…
