Brookwood man indicted in shooting death of Blount County high school cheerleader at Jefferson County bonfire

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Brookwood man has been indicted in the shooting death of a Cleveland High School cheerleader at a bonfire in Jefferson County that left three others injured.

A grand jury returned the indictments on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025. Steven Tyler Whitehead, 27, faces one count of murder after investigators said he shot 18-year-old Kimber Mills at a bonfire off Highway 75 in Pinson.

He is also charged with three counts of attempted murder for injuring others…
