BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Jefferson County jury has returned a $10 million verdict in a case involving a deputy who was attacked by a K9 officer in Hueytown.
The judgement came Nov. 25 against David McIntosh, an officer with the Hueytown Police Department, whose narcotics detection K9 viciously attacked Deputy Aimee Jo Brasher with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office during a routine training exercise back in May 2021.
“Evidence presented at trial showed that, in the months leading up to the incident, the officer repeatedly failed to meet the minimum monthly training requirements for the narcotics detection dog” a statement from Hollis, Wright and Clay read. “These requirements were mandated by both Hueytown policy and national standards.”…
