BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Cullman’s West Point High School Track and Field team traveled to participate in the annual Magic City Invitational this weekend. The indoor event took place at the Birmingham Crossplex on Saturday and featured nearly 30 individual competitions for athletes from across the state.
The school started out strong in track events, with sophomore Rush Lamar running in the first heat of the boys’ 60 meter hurdle competition. Lamar placed 13th out of 34 entries with a time of 9.45 seconds.
In the girls 1600m run, Warriors senior Dorothy Salter ran in the second heat and placed 40th out of 71 entries with a time of six minutes and 16.40 seconds. Her time set a new West Point record for the girls’ indoor 1600m run. Later, Salter also participated in the girls’ 800m run, and placed 53rd out of 84 competitors with a time of two minutes and 56.45 seconds…
