New faith-based resource center to serve homeless, low-income women in Shelby County

PELHAM – After spending 15 years battling addiction, experiencing homelessness and serving time in prison, Amanda Claridy never imagined her past would one day become the foundation of a new ministry.

Today, Claridy is the founder and executive director of The Resting Place of Pelham, a faith-based day resource center opening on the campus of First Baptist Church Pelham to serve homeless and low-income women and children across Shelby County.

“Living in it, it was the worst time of my life,” Claridy said. “Living through it was the best, because it has now become my ministry and the very thing that God is using to lead others to Him.”…
