Ensley homeowner says tree stump blocked sidewalk for nearly a year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — An Ensley homeowner says a tree on city property fell onto his house nearly a year ago, causing thousands of dollars in damage and leaving behind a hazardous stump on the sidewalk.

Herman Webb said the tree fell onto his home in December 2024, knocking a hole in the roof and requiring extensive repairs. He said the city later removed part of the tree but left the stump blocking the sidewalk in front of his house.

Webb said the tree was on city property and he did not expect the city to cover the cost of repairs. He said he only asked that the remaining stump be removed…
