VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (WIAT) — The Vestavia Hills Police Department is warning parents about a scam that uses artificial intelligence to clone children’s voices.
Police say scammers are calling parents or guardians and using what sounds like their child’s voice to claim they are in urgent need of help or in danger. The calls often include a demand for money. According to a Facebook post from the department, the scammers use AI-generated voice clones to make the calls appear legitimate.
