BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Birmingham Police Department marked a historic milestone Friday as its largest recruit class ever graduated, adding 89 new officers to the force and signaling a major turnaround after severe staffing shortages last year.
The new officers will begin patrols across the city this weekend. Department leaders say the graduation represents progress, but they stress that rebuilding efforts will continue.
