Alabama gears up for 250th birthday of US

MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WHNT) — Planning is well underway at the American Village in Montevallo and across the state for the 250th celebration of the U.S.

American Village is a museum that highlights U.S. history. It is currently planning to commemorate how Alabama has shaped the history of the U.S. after the Declaration of Independence was signed 250 years ago.

Natalie Steed, executive officer of the Alabama USA Semiquincentennial Commission, said schools around the state will be able to offer coursework about Alabama’s heritage and civic engagement…
