Birmingham, Alabama – The first weekend of the New Year brings a rare and eye-catching sky event across Alabama as the Wolf Moon rises as a supermoon, giving residents their final chance to see a full moon this large and bright until the end of 2026. Mild January evenings and broad southern horizons could make Alabama one of the better viewing spots in the central U.S.

According to astronomical timing, the Wolf Moon reaches peak illumination early Saturday morning around 5 a.m. EST, but the most visually striking moment comes later that day.
