Police find guns, drugs at Alabama religious encampment

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — Three people have been arrested and authorities seized guns and drugs from a religious encampment in Walker County, Alabama, following a raid earlier this week.

Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith said a group that calls itself “More than Profit/Prophet Ministries” had been living in tents at a five-acre property in Empire illegally for months. Smith said up to 40 people at times lived at the property.

“I don’t know what their intent was, if whether it was good intent, bad intent,” Smith said. “I can’t speak to what the group’s intentions were. (The group’s leader) did put out a video months back that was concerning not only to law enforcement but to the community. It was almost an indirect threat to the community.”…
